Egg Tracker

A quail egg tracker built for coveys, not chickens.

Counting eggs on a notepad works until you have three coveys and a busy morning. Quail Keeper Max logs every covey in one pass and does the math for you: lay rate, damaged eggs, egg weight, and what a dozen actually costs you.

What you log each day

One pass, every covey, under a minute.

๐Ÿฅš

Eggs collected, per covey

A count for each covey, not one number for the whole farm. That is the only way lay rate means anything.

๐Ÿ’”

Damaged eggs

Cracked, soft-shelled or broken in the tray. Logged separately so your good-egg count stays honest.

โš–๏ธ

Egg weight

Average weight with how many you weighed, so a sample of five is not mistaken for a sample of fifty.

๐Ÿ’™

Celadon count

How many were blue. If you are breeding for the celadon gene, this is the number that tells you whether it is working.

๐Ÿงบ

Where the eggs went

Sold, eaten, set for hatching, given away, broken. The running total on hand updates itself.

๐ŸŒพ

Feed cost per dozen

From your own last 90 days of feed purchases and collections, not a rule of thumb. Sits right on your dashboard.

What a week looks like

Sample data, not a real flock.

Week of Oct 6 ยท 2 coveys118 eggs ยท 9.8 dozen
CoveyMonTueWedThuFriSatSunLay rate
Covey A12 hens101111911121088%
Covey B8 hens677567679%

Both coveys dipped on Thursday. That is the kind of pattern that shows up on a chart and not in a notebook.

Why not a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet holds the numbers. It will not tell you Covey B has been under 80% for three weeks, and it will not connect to your feed cost, your hatching, or your sales. Quail Keeper Max does all three, and Captain Coturnix, your personal quail advisor, reads the same log when you ask him why production dropped.

Egg tracking questions

How do I track quail egg production?

Count once a day at the same time, per covey. Divide the count by the number of hens for that dayโ€™s lay rate. Quail Keeper Max does the division for you and charts it week by week.

What is a good lay rate for Coturnix quail?

A healthy flock in its prime commonly lays roughly 75 to 90 percent of days. Light, feed and age move it. A covey that drifts under its usual range for a week is worth a closer look.

Can I log more than one covey at once?

Yes. Log every covey in one pass on a busy morning, each with its own count, damaged eggs, egg weight and celadon count.
